Until recently, the most effective procedure to choose before committing to an involved procedure like a facelift has been a full depth laser skin resurfacing performed by a plastic surgeon or dermatologist. In most cases, sedatives are required as the procedure can be painful, and healing could take up to 2-6 weeks. The laser destroys (vaporizes) sections of skin, layer by layer.
