World Series of Poker champion Chris Moneymaker, who had a heavy hand in the rebirth of poker 10 years ago and remains one of the most recognizable faces in poker today, will play and spend time with players and fans on property as HPO’s first-ever celebrity ambassador.
On the heels of the first successful national HPO tournament series, where more than 200 qualifiers from 21 Penn National Gaming properties nationwide were sent to compete this past June at the M Resort Spa & Casino, the action continues with season two, attracting poker players from across the world to compete for the HPO title and a piece of the $500,000 guaranteed prize pool.
Moneymaker will compete in all five of the remaining regional qualifying events, which will feature 10-day qualifying tournaments starting next month. These regional events include 32 events between February 7-16 at Hollywood Casino Tunica in Mississippi and 31 events February 20-March 2 at Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course in Grantville, Pennsylvania. Qualifiers at St. Louis, Mo. and Charles Town, W. Va. Will be in March and Columbus, Ohio in May. The tournament will culminate with the championship event at the Forbes Travel Guide Four Star M Resort Spa & Casino in Las Vegas in June 2014.
